What We Do

What we are doing in 2022

Collective Liberation Project
Robinwood Center launched our first cohort of the Collective Liberation Project. Our participants meet twice a month for six months to discuss oppression, privilege and power in an environment centered around relationship-building. At the end of their time together, our participants will share stories surrounding their experience participating in CLP. This event will take place in June 2022. Stay tuned for more information!
Storytelling events
Robinwood Center will be hosting three storytelling events in 2022. The first one was centered around climate change and took place on May 22, 2022.

Emma Shapiro-Weiss (she/her) and Dr. Dorn Cox (he/him) shared stories about their personal experiences in the field of climate change. Emma currently works for 350NH as a climate organizer and Dorn serves as research director for Open Technology Ecosystem for Agricultural Management (OpenTEAM). He is also a project lead at Wolfe's Neck Center for Agriculture and the Environment, a pioneer and leader in regenerative agriculture, a nonprofit research and education center, and a working 600 acre organic dairy diversified farm on the coast of Maine.

The second storytelling event took place on June 19 and was a culminating experience for the first cohort of the Collective Liberation Project. CLP is a group that centers relationship-building through shared learning and community discussions on oppression, privilege and power in our community. CLP participants summarized the racial justice journey they underwent while participating in the six-month course using various storytelling mediums.

Summit event
We are looking forward to hosting our first annual Summit event. This event will host several nonprofits from the Maine and New Hampshire seacoast area. These nonprofit groups are also focused on racial and climate justice. We will be inviting local organizations who specify that their mission is to support racial and/or climate justice in their mission statement, and we hope to continue to grow our list of partners in coming years!

What we did in 2021

In 2021 we were able to offer more Robinwood Center events including our first-ever storytelling event and a racial and climate justice film series. We also hosted events for other organizations dedicated to furthering the cause of social and climate justice in our community.
Storytelling Event: On Belonging in the Community
Three individuals from our community participated in a storytelling event by sharing their unique stories with us. Connecting with people of diverse backgrounds and hearing their stories brings people together, and we will be hosting more storytelling events in 2022.

What we did in 2020

2020 didn’t quite go the way we had planned but we are grateful for the opportunities we had to foster new and continuing relationships and create space for local organizations to safely conduct their programming while hosting and co-hosting some of our own!
Evergreen Yoga: Environmental Exploration Farm Camp
The Environmental Exploration Farm Camp is a seasonal program that began in 2020. Evergreen Education and the Robinwood Center creatively combined their efforts and resources to host a safe and fun space for kids to learn through nature on the farm! The neighboring farms provide an ideal space for campers to immerse themselves in nature-based learning.

Many things make this thoughtfully curated program special, including a continuous theme of meditation, yoga, and mindful connection. From learning about the seasonal crops, to practicing nature-based yoga postures down by the pond, each day at camp is filled with opportunities to move, learn, and play. Evergreen Education Director Kat McDonnell collaborates with certified K-8 teachers, yoga instructors, and other professionals to offer a well-rounded and engaging curriculum.

With careful consideration of all safety protocols, this camp focuses on small cohorts, gathering groups of campers who are connected through friendship and common neighborhoods. The three cohorts hosted in 2020 included kids from Exeter and Rye, NH.
Black Lives Matter Seacoast
Founded in July 2020, they held their first fundraiser gala in our barn. We feel extremely lucky to have their co-founder, Tanisha Johnson, join our board!

Evergreen Yoga & Meditation
Our neighbors at Evergreen Farm utilized our newly renovated barn to host pilates classes, a mens meditation group, and a kids camp that ran from August to October.

Racism 101 - Racial Unity Team
This was a four part series co-hosted by the Robinwood Center in partnership with the Racial Unity Team.

SoulFire
